Yeah I can only blame myself, but I think "careless error" is a bit harsh for hitting black ice =) I wasn't speeding...I mean, I was going like 15mph into the turn and probably did 5mph into the curb. I drive like a grandma when it rains. I came to a complete stop at the sign, my tires had the proper pressure, my alignment was recently fixed for a proper grip patch, etc. I didn't even panic and tried to control the skid like I was taught in Performance Driving School. But it's not water, it's ice :( My only out was to have seen it before I came up to it (which isn't exactly easy at night when the whole road is black and there's no street lights. Bah, it doesn't change anything. Anyway, thanks for words though...I'm thinking the same thing in that it shouldn't be too bad. I've seen pics on some rim repair websites of stuff WAYYYYYY worse with 6" chunks missing and welds being needed. This is nothing compared.
